# Moving to SIGNL from a CSV file

> Bring leads in from a CSV with a dry run first, map columns in the Imports wizard, undo a run, and paste a form across.

Updated 2 October 2026.

## What comes across from a CSV

A CSV from any tool can be brought into SIGNL as leads, and the Imports wizard can also read calls, payments and notes from it.
There are two routes. Use Import CSV on the Leads page for a plain list of contacts, or New import on the Imports page when you want to map columns, preview and undo.

## Quick import from Leads

1. Open Leads in the client workspace and choose Import CSV.
2. Drop a .csv file of up to 5 MB, or press the drop zone to choose one.
3. SIGNL runs a dry run first and shows the total rows, how many will import and how many will be skipped.
4. Choose Import, followed by the number of leads that will import.

The dry run recognises these headings, in any case: name, email, phone, source and tags. It also accepts variants such as full_name, phone_number, mobile and utm_source.
Tags can be separated by commas, pipes or semicolons.
A row with no email and no phone is skipped, as is a row with an invalid email or an email that appears more than once in the file.
A lead with no source is given the source csv_import.

### If the person is already in SIGNL

SIGNL looks for the contact by email or phone and attaches to the visitor who is already there, rather than creating a second one.
Contacts already present are left untouched, so a blank column cannot blank a field filled in elsewhere.
They are counted as already here, not as imported.

## Full import from Imports

1. Open Imports and choose New import.
2. Pick CSV as the source, then upload the file, which can be up to 25 MB.
3. On Map, match your columns to lead, call, deal, payment or note fields. At least one column must be mapped.
4. On Preview, read the outcome for the first rows before anything is written.
5. Choose Start import.

If no unique ID column is mapped, SIGNL warns that editing a row later will import it as new.
You can upload a newer file to an existing CSV source.

### Undo

Each run has an Undo this import button.
It deletes the leads, calls, payments and notes that run created, and keeps anything that already existed in SIGNL or was edited since.
Payments recorded under a payment processor are never deleted by an undo.

## Bring a form across by pasting it

On the Forms page, choose Import existing and paste a GoHighLevel form link, a Typeform link or a Typeform definition.
No account is connected for this.
Each import arrives as a draft, and anything it could not carry across is shown as a warning.

## What you set up again

- Automations, booking pages and anything else that lived in the old tool.
- Tags you want on leads, if your file did not have a tags column.

## What it does not bring

- Other columns, on the quick route. It reads the five headings above, and the Imports wizard is where you map the rest.
- Changes to contacts SIGNL already holds. Their details are left as they are.
