Tracking
Tracking Google Forms with SIGNL
A form or calendar inside an embed cannot be read by any script: that is a browser rule, not a limitation of SIGNL. Instead the tracking snippet writes the visitor's id into the embed's link, and Google Forms hands it back when somebody submits.
Setting it up
- 1.In the form, open the More menu (three dots) and choose Apps Script.
- 2.Delete the starter code, paste the SIGNL script from Tracking, Setup in its place, and save. It already holds this workspace's address.
- 3.Open Triggers (the clock icon), add one for onFormSubmit with event source From form and event type On form submit, and allow the access Google asks for.
- 4.Ask for the respondent's email: turn on Collect email addresses, or add a question with Email in its title.
Where to send it
Google Forms has no webhooks, so SIGNL gives you a short Apps Script that sends each response to /api/webhooks/form/google_forms. Copy it from Tracking, Setup in your workspace, where it already holds your address.
These steps come from Google Forms's own documentation and have not yet been run against a live account. If anything differs, tell us and we will correct it.
